Local Greens was built on one thing connection.
From day one, the goal was never just to create quality apparel that bridges the gap between the course and everyday life.
More importantly it was to build a community. The Sydney Slice Club felt like a natural extension of that idea. Not just a collection, but a way to bring people together through the game we all love.
And Marrickville Golf Club felt like the perfect place to bring it to life.
We kicked things off in the car park a few early nerves, a few familiar faces, but mostly strangers meeting for the first time. That’s what it’s all about.
24 golfers. 6 teams. And the majority had never played a round together before.
From there, it was straight into 9 holes of social golf, big drives, bigger slices and plenty of laughs echoing across Marrickville.
Groups settled in quickly, there was no pressure, just good energy people figuring out each other’s games on the fly, celebrating the pure ones and fully embracing the shockers.
The Fireball challenge made its way around the groups, adding just enough chaos to keep things interesting, and by the back end of the round, it felt less like a bunch of strangers and more like a regular Saturday crew.
One team managed to piece it all together, finishing 3 under to take the win walking away with four of our organic cotton Sydney Slice Club tees, well earned after a seriously solid nine.
On the greens, the putting comp brought out the competitive edge, with the winner taking home a Local Greens cap. We also handed out a Playfair Golf voucher for the funniest golf moment of the day because let’s be honest, those are the ones we all remember anyway.
But as always, the best part wasn’t the scores.
It was the beer garden after.
A few cold ones, plenty of laughs, stories flying around, and that easy feeling you only get after a good round with good people. For a group that mostly hadn’t met before, it felt like a regular crew by the end of it.
That’s what Local Greens is about.
The feedback has been unreal and it’s clear this is just the start. Bigger groups, bigger events, and next time…we’re going the full 18 and exploring some more Local Greens.
