Our First Product Shoot at Marrickville Golf Course

Our First Product Shoot at Marrickville Golf Course

Local Greens - Field Notes from the Fairway

With the launch of our first golf collection just around the corner, we’ve been doing the rounds across Sydney’s best local greens.  Playing, creating and shining a spotlight on the courses that make this city such a special place to tee it up. When shoot day rolled around, we were spoiled for choice. Sydney is stacked with good golf, but we wanted a course that truly captured Local Greens’ core values: local, community and good times with mates no matter your ability.

While many of our products are coastal-inspired with that laid-back Sydney feel, all of our artwork was brought to life by a local Newtown artist. So it only felt right to shoot on a course that matched that same spirit, the ultimate community track, one that welcomes everyone from the hackers, to the hopefuls, to the single-digits: Marrickville Golf Course.

For us, Marrickville is the perfect Local Green. Humble, friendly and full of character. The general manager, clubhouse crew and bar staff were unbelievably accommodating. The clubhouse itself is a sanctuary: a sunny beer garden buzzing with friendly locals, often hosting events that bring the community together, exactly the kind of energy we want Local Greens to reflect.

We rolled in on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, and it couldn’t have been more ideal. The sun was out, the course was quiet, and the vibes were high. A few swings, a few laughs and a whole lot of excitement, the kind that comes with seeing your first collection finally come to life on the fairways.

Anyone who has played the course knows it’s a cracker offering a mix of Par 3s & 4s as you slowly follow the Cooks River and offering ideal conditions to improve your game.

Marrickville wasn’t just a backdrop; it was the perfect symbol of what we stand for.
Local course. Local people. Local Greens.

The Sydney Slice Club Collection came alive in true spirit with many of our talented models still in the early days of their golf addiction. There was big energy, big slices and even bigger laughs.

The Sydney Slice Club was inspired by the belief that golf is for everyone and it shouldn't be taken too seriously. To Local Greens, golf is more than a sport, it’s community. It’s the laughs on the fairway, the stories in the clubhouse and the way a simple game can bring people together.

The founders of Local Greens have been lucky to live across the Commonwealth in Australia, the UK and Canada, with a stint working as a greenskeeper on one of Vancouver’s most prestigious courses. Ever move meant starting fresh and finding your people. Golf has always bridged that gap. It gave us mates, clarity and a connection to the outdoors and to friendly locals.

That’s why the Sydney Slice Club wasn’t created to just be a collection, it was created to be a connection. Starting next year, we’ll be rolling out Local Greens meet ups and community events. No golfer should feel like they can’t play because they don’t have a regular crew yet. We’re here to bring people together through the sport we love.

Stay tuned for what’s coming, big things, big swing and hopefully plenty more afternoons at Marrickville, our unofficial clubhouse.
